Clemson quarterback Tajh Boyd accounted for three touchdowns in the Tigers 38-17 win over the Virginia Tech Hokies at Memorial Stadium on Saturday.

Boyd ran for two scores and threw for another as the #14 Tigers improves to 6-1 overall, 3-1 in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Clemson trailed 7-0 early, but the Tigers ran off 17 unanswered points in the first half and never trailed after a Chandler Cantanzaro field goal, a Boyd 1-yard TD and a Jonathan Meeks 74 yard interception for a TD.

Andre Ellington led Clemson's ground attack with 19 carries for 96 yards and a TD.

Clemson had several former WPDE All-Zone selections who made an impact against Virginia Tech. Former West Florence High star Malliciah Goodman recorded his first sack of the season. He had three total tackles. Ex-Myrtle Beach High kicker Spencer Benton had 7 punts for an average of 33.4 yards with two inside the 20. Benton also made one tackle. Cheraw High product Jaron Brown had one kickoff return for 20 yards. Jonathan Willard out of Loris High had ten tackles. Lake View's Quandon Christian had six tackles. Marlboro County's Lateek Townsend had one tackle.

The Clemson defense had three interceptions, including two by Meeks.  Virginia Tech linebacker Bruce Taylor, the 2007 WPDE Zoneman winner out of Myrtle Beach High, had seven tackles and a sack.

The Tigers have a quick turnaround with a game on Thursday, October 25 at Wake Forest. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. and can be seen on ESPN.
