42 children attended day one of the two day Cliff Ellis Basketball Skills Camp at Coastal Carolina University's new $25.5 million Student Recreation and Convocation Center.

The kids are learning basketball fundamentals from Coach Ellis and his staff. CCU Assistant Head Coach Mamadou N'Diaye, who played in the NBA, and CCU Guard Kierre Greenwood are among those helping at the camp.

Ellis, who has been the head basketball coach at Coastal Carolina for five seasons, says the new arena will help with recruiting and give more fans a chance to watch the Chanticleers play.

The Student and Recreation Center has a seating capacity of 3,250. Kimbel Arena, where CCU played over the past four decades, seated only 1,039.

A grand opening for the new arena is scheduled for August 20.
