East Rutherford (NC) defeated St. James 49-44 in a consolation bracket quarterfinal at the Beach Ball Classic on Thursday at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. Nehemiah Stafford led St. James with 19 points. East Rutherford got a combined 25 points from the tandem of T.J. Watkins and Travis Waldroup-Rodriguez. East Rutherford improves to 1-1 at the Beach Ball Classic and 10-2 for the season. The St. James Sharks are winless after two games at Beach Ball and 7-4 on the year.
Spring Valley scored a blowout win over Socastee in another consolation contest at Beach Ball. The Vikings beat the Braves 60-37. Socastee's Will Caswell scored nine points and hauled down 12 rebounds, and Dante Moore scored 12 points. Spring Valley's Perry Dozier, Jr. led three Vikings in double-figures with 15 points. Spring Valley is now 1-1 at Beach Ball, 8-5 on the season. Socastee is 0-2 at Beach Ball, 4-4 on the season. St. James will play Socastee in a final consolation bracket game for both teams on Saturday, December 29 at 10:15 a.m.
