In 2006 and 2007, Bruce Taylor and Spencer Benton were part of WPDE's All-Zone team.  Taylor was the 2007 WPDE Zoneman winner and went on to Virginia Tech, while Benton took his big right foot to Clemson where he has done a little bit of everything for the Tigers when it comes to special teams.

Both Seahawks are now redshirt seniors playing their final season of college football.  Benton got the bragging rights one more time as Clemson topped Virginia Tech 38-17 in Death Valley.  Taylor had seven tackles and a sack in the loss and currently stands at 50 stops for the Hokies in 2012.  After suffering a season ending injury in 2011, Taylor has shown throughout his final year of college football that he's a pro prospect.

"It's definitely been fun," Taylor said following the Clemson/Virginia Tech game.  " It's coming to an end, but I've had a lot of great memories throughout my college career.  I got to play against some friends down the road a few times.  I'm just looking forward to what's next."

When it comes to kicking, Benton has one of the most diverse and unique responsibilities in all of college football.  Benton is Clemson's starting punter and handles all of the Tigers kickoffs.  In addition, he's the holder on field goals and is also used to attempt long field goals.  He set an ACC record with a 61 yard field goal against Ball State.

Benton suffered a broken shoulder in 2011 while attempting a tackle on a kickoff at Virginia Tech and got a little redemption as he recorded a tackle following Clemson's field goal in the first half.  He joked that he was glad his old high school teammate #51 (Taylor) was not on the field to track him down.

"It all started back with the Seahawks," Benton said.  "It's just an honor to play in this league, the ACC - Division I football.  It's awesome to see Myrtle Beach representing a couple of teams in the ACC, it doesn't get any better than that."
