20 year assistant John Williams is now the head coach with most of the old staff returning. This team is loaded with talent with 17 of their 22 starters returning including RB's D.J. Johnson and Earnell Legette. NG Sha'mel Hemingway and LB Ryan Fladger will play key roles on defense. But Mullins has one big question to answer. Who will play quarterback? Coach Williams does not seem concerned. He told WPDE Sports that the Aucs are strong enough to challenge Dillon for the region title.
Rich's Thoughts
Mullins opens the season with four matchups against 1A foes, followed by a road trip to North Myrtle Beach before opening region play. The key to the season will be a three game road stretch in league play at Dillon, Loris and Aynor. That's where the season will be defined for the Aucs. I'm not ready to put Mullins in Dillon's class, but this is a team that could win seven to eight games and make a run in the 2A playoffs.
