Former Green Sea-Floyds High School sprinter Calesio Newman was not able to finish among the top three in the men's 200 meter finals at the U.S. Olympic Trials, ending his bid to make the Olympic Team. The Track and Field Trials were held at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.

Newman finished fourth with a time of 20.17 seconds, .01 behind the third place finisher. Only the top three qualified for the London Games. Wallace Spearman won the race clocking a time of 19.81 seconds. Joining Spearman, representing the U.S. in the 200 meters, will be Maurice Mitchell (20.14) who took second along with third place finisher Isiah Young (20.16).
