Former Myrtle Beach High star Ramon Sessions has decided to opt out of the final year of his contract with the Los Angeles Lakers to become a free agent. The two-time WPDE Mister Hoop Zone winner wants a long term deal and more money.

Sessions, 26, averaged 12.7 points and 6.2 assists per game playing point guard for the Lakers last season. He would have earned $4.55 million next season had he agreed to remain under contract in Los Angeles.

Free agency starts on July 1. The Lakers have made it known that they want to keep Sessions who has played for four different teams in his five year NBA career. Right now, Steve Blake is the only point guard on the roster under contract.
