Dillon pitcher Jamie Callahan was selected in the second round of the MLB Amateur Draft by the Boston Red Sox. Callahan was the #87 overall pick. Callahan tells WPDE Sports that he will sign with Boston and not attend the University of South Carolina. The #87 pick is slotted a $565,600 signing bonus and Callahan will sign above that slot amount.
Callahan was 7-1 with a 0.89 ERA in his senior season with the Wildcats striking out 113 batters in just 50 innings. The 2A all-state selection is committed to play college baseball for Ray Tanner and the South Carolina Gamecocks. He was also named the Gatorade HS player of the year in South Carolina.

Here's the scouting report on Callahan from MLB.com:
Callahan is a projectable righty who has the chance to have three plus pitches. He has a fastball that sits in the low 90s, touching 94-95 mph, but doesn't have a lot of movement. He also has a good 12-6 curveball that could be his best pitch, along with a promising changeup that has the potential to be a plus pitch. His slider needs work as it is inconsistent, and if his changeup keeps developing with his command, Callahan could be a very interesting prospect with significant upside.
