In 2007, the Hartsville Red Foxes won just three games on the softball diamond. Jordan Bizzell played varsity softball as a 7th grader and saw her game grow tremendously in six years. With that, Hartsville went from three wins to thirty in 2012 as the Red Foxes are looking for two more to get its first ever state championship in softball. Bizzell signed in November to play for coach Beverly Smith and the University of South Carolina.
Jordan was a 3A All-State selection in her junior and senior years and will play for her head coach Bobby Sowell in the North South All-Star game. She hit .546 in her junior year with 13 home runs and followed that up with 8 more long balls in her senior campaign batting right around the .500 mark. She has played four different positions including catcher and has settled in this year as the Red Foxes 2nd baseman. She thinks she'll play third base at South Carolina.
Hartsville trailed Daniel 2-0 in the 4th inning of the 3A state champioship series on Tuesday before lightning suspended the game. Game one will resume on Thursday night at Hartsville High with game two set for Friday night in Daniel. If necessary, a decisive game three will played in the Columbia area on Saturday night. Before she goes to Columbia to play for the Lady Gamecocks, Jordan will waitress this summer at the family restaurant in Hartsville.
