Future South Carolina Gamecock Jordan Gore will contribute for Ray Tanner's program in the middle infield, but on Tuesday night it was Gore throwing 6 1/3 solid innings on the mound for Conway in a 4-2 win over rival Carolina Forest.
Major league scouts were on hand to see Carolina Forest starter Erich Knabb. The Spartanburg Methodist commit is getting a lot of attention heading into this June's MLB Draft. Knabb throws consistently above the 90 mile per hour mark, but found trouble in the third inning with a wild pitch to score Conway's first run and a bunt single by Gore to put Conway in front 2-0. The Tigers padded the lead to 4-0 in the fourth with another wild pitch and an RBI single by Tray Cooper.
Carolina Forest rallied in the 7th with a pair of runs. Gore could not go the distance as coach Anthony Carroll replaced him with Jordy Lee after giving up an RBI single to Cameron Cuble. Lee would surrender an RBI single to Matthew Jolly to right made it a 4-2 game, but was able to get the final two outs to secure the win. Conway is now 6-2 and 3-0 in region play, while Carolina Forest drops to 5-4, 1-2 in region play.
