Eric Griffin had 25 points and 10 rebounds to help Campbell complete a season sweep of Coastal Caroilna in an 81-75 win at Kimbel Arena on Tuesday night. With 13:17 to go in the second half, Coastal enjoyed a 50-39 advantage, but the Camels roared back to draw even in a six minute span. A Griffin three pointer put Campbell in front 65-62 at the seven minute mark and the Camels never surrendered the lead.
Coastal got within 73-70 on a layup by freshman Warren Gilils with 3:23 to go, but Campbell delivered back to back three pointers by Trey Freeman and Lome Merthie to put the game away. Coastal fell behind 9-0 early, but got a huge spark from senior guard Dexter Moore off the bench. Moore had 12 in the first half on 3 three pointers and had 17 for the game. Chris Gradnigo followed a miss with his third dunk of the first half to give Coastal a 34-31 halftime lead. Gradnigo finished with 20 points to lead the Chants. Five CCU players were in double digits including Kierre Greenwood, Jon Pack and Sam McLaurin all with 10 points apiece.
CCU drops to 17-6, 10-3 in Big South play, while Campbell improves to 16-11, 10-5 in league play. Coastal will look to bounce back on Thursday night at home against High Point.
