The childhood home of University of Michigan wide receiver Junior Hemingway was burglarized on Friday in Conway. According to Kenneth Hemingway, Junior's father, thieves knocked down the front door and took a large screen television as well as some of Junior Hemingway's Michigan memorabilia including jerseys and bowl rings. Hemingway's Sugar Bowl MVP Trophy was left untouched on the coffee table. Nearly every room in the home was ransacked by the burglars. This is the second time the Hemingway home has been broken into within the last four months.

No one was home on Friday morning when the burglary took place. In a police report filed by the family, the estimated value of the missing items and damage is more than $5,000, but the sentimental value is much more than that. "The sad thing is, this stuff just can't be replaced," a tearful Kenneth Hemingway said.  Among the items taken from Junior's room were a Gator Bowl ring and an Outback Bowl and Gator Bowl watch.

Hemingway had two TD catches for Michigan in a 23-20 win over Virginia Tech to win Sugar Bowl MVP honors. He had 38 catches for 1638 yards and 11 TD's in his Michigan career. Hemingway is currently in Atlanta working out to prepare for the NFL Scouting Combine later this month, followed by Michigan's Pro Day for NFL scouts in March. The Conway High product was a WPDE Zoneman Finalist in 2006.

Anyone with information on the crime can contact the Horry County Police Department anonymously at 843-915-TIPS (8477).
