The 2011 season has been plagued by injuries for the Coastal Carolina football team.  In Saturday night's 15-8 win over Presbyterian, the Chants once again suffered an injury to a key contributor.  Starting quarterback Aramis Hillary suffered a sprained right ankle in the victory over the Blue Hose.   Hillary guided Coastal to an opening drive capped off by a 2 yard run from the former South Carolina Gamecock.  But on the first play of the second quarter, Hillary completed a pass to Chris Presley when his ankle was rolled by a PC defensive player.  Hillary was carried off the field and was on crutches and a protective boot.  Bennett said the staff will wait and see how Hillary responds to treatment and rehab, but it's likely that the offense will have Jamie Childers and Cody Craig at quarterback this Saturday at Charleston Southern.

Childers was injured in the CCU's win over VMI with a sprained MCL.  After missing nearly a month, Childers spent just two days at practice getting reps only at tight end.  When Hillary suffered his ankle injury, offensive coordinator Kevin Brown made the call to give Childers a shot at running the offense.  Childers struggled with just 2 of 14 passing, but made the big play when it counted the most.  He threw a 35 yard pass to DeMario Bennett late in the 4th quarter for the go ahead score.  Craig, a redshirt freshman out of Timberland High School, came in and added a two point conversion to make it a seven point game.

Bennett praised the CCU defense for holding the Blue Hose to two field goals.  Chris Thomas and Josh Norman shined.  Norman, an NFL prospect, had one of his best games in his final game in Conway with an interception, blocked field goal and a forced fumble.
