South Florence 34 Carolina Forest 20

The South Florence Bruins came from behind in the second half to outlast the Carolina Forest Panthers 34-20 on Thursday night at Memorial Stadium in Florence.  After a scoreless first quarter, the Bruins were first on the board as Ethan Grainger found Octavious Richardson on a 25 yard scoring play.  South Florence missed the extra point, opening the door for Carolina Forest to take the lead.  Harold Atkinson's 1 yard score made it a 7-6 Panthers lead at the half.

Things picked up in the third quarter starting with a pick six by Aaron Williams.  That made it a 14-6 Panthers lead.  The Bruins answered right back as Grainger and Richardson hooked up for a second time to cut the deficit to 14-12.  Grainger's third TD pass of the night went to Shannon James and the Bruins added a two point conversion to make it 20-14.  The third quarter flurry was closed out when Atkinson rambled 50 yards to tie the game at 20.  A missed extra point kept it that way through three quarters.

In the fourth, the Bruins peservered and pulled away on a pair of three yard TD runs by Grainger and Brandon Lewis.  Carolina Forest drops to 6-2 on the year and 1-1 in region play.  The Panthers will travel to Lugoff-Elgin next Friday night.  South Florence (5-3) is also 1-1 in the league and has a big showdown at Conway next week.

Green Sea-Floyds 55 Creek Bridge 8

The Trojans got a combined 522 yards rushing from two running backs in a convincing effort on Thursday night in Centenary.  Green Sea didn't get on the board until :24 seconds left in the first quarter when Rashad Bessant broke a tackle and darted 55 yards for the first score of the game.  Following the kickoff, the Trojans got a pick six from Trequez Miller to take a 14-0 lead.  In the second quarter, Devarus Spain scored a pair of touchdowns from 1 yard and 8 yards to build a 28-0 advantage.

Bessant finished with 316 yards on the ground and four TD's, while Spain had 206 yards and two scores.  Coach Joey Still's team breaks a six game losing streak to improve to 3-6 on the year.  The Trojans close out the regular season next Friday night when they host the Hemingway Tigers.  Creek Bridge is now 0-8 and will host Carvers Bay next week.
