Steve Spurrier announced at his weekly radio show that Connor Shaw will get the start at quarterback for the Gamecocks in the opener against East Carolina. It ends a streak of 28 straight starts for Stephen Garcia at quarterback for USC. Shaw relieved Garcia last year and threw two interceptions in the Gamecocks loss at Auburn. This will be his first collegiate start.
