One day after Hartsville native Jordan Lyles beat the defending World Champion San Francisco Giants, he was sent back to the minors. Lyles has been optioned to the Houston Astros Triple-A affiliate in Oklahoma City.

Houston Astros General Manager Ed Wade says the move is not a demotion. Lyles has pitched 148 2-3 innings this season. The Astros believe that he has pitched enough during his rookie season. Wade said Lyles will return to the team in September to work out of the bullpen.

Lyles has a 2-7 record with a 5.02 ERA this season with Houston. He was the winning pitcher in Saturday's 7-5 victory over the Giants.

Taking Lyles place on the Houston roster is former Myrtle Beach Pelicans outfielder Jordan Schafer who is coming off the disabled list.
