South Carolina champion Maple Park won an elimination game Sunday at the Dixie World Series
The Florence Maple Park all-stars won an elimination game at the Dixie Youth Majors (11-12) World Series on Sunday. Wright Sullivan hit a walk-off homer in the sixth inning to break a 2-all tie in a 3-2 victory over Moore County, North Carolina, the host team.
Maple Park got off to a dubious start. In the first inning, the Florence stars committed three errors leading to a North Carolina run. Maple Park rallied for two runs in the fourth on a single by Josh Humphrey to score Wright Sullivan and Zyier Turner.
North Carolina tied it up in the fifth. Sullivan ended the game quickly leading off the bottom of the sixth with a home run. He had two hits on the day and scored two runs for Maple Park.
Moore County, North Carolina was eliminated. Maple Park will play a team from Florida at 6 p.m. in another elimination game on Monday in Carthage, North Carolina.
