Former Coastal Carolina outfielder David Sappelt was called up from Triple-A Louisville on Saturday. On Sunday, he joined the Cincinnati Reds in Chicago. Sappelt made a phenominal catch in the fourth inning and picked up his first big league hit in the fifth. Batting from the lead-off position, he went 1-for-5 and scored a run in the Reds 8-7 win over the Cubs at Wrigley Field.

Reds manager Dusty Baker was impressed, "Defense is big, you know I'm big on defense, and he (Sappelt) saved some runs today." Sappelt is the only current Coastal Carolina product in the big leagues. He is only the sixth CCU player ever to make it to the big show.
