Coastal Carolina head football coach David Bennett planned on having 150 high school age football players at his one day camp on Saturday. A record 240 showed up to work out and improve their skills under the directon of coach Bennett and his CCU staff.

Coach Bennett says this camp is a great recruiting tool for his program and it allows the players to experience the Conway campus. Players came from all over the Southeast and there were more than a dozen campers from the Pee Dee and Grand Strand area.

Coach Bennett is entering his ninth season as head coach at CCU. He has a record of 56-34 with the Chanticleers and 118-60 overall during his 17 year head coaching career. Coastal Carolina will open the 2011 football season at Brooks Stadium in Conway against Furman on September 3.
