Dillon wide receiver Kwinton Smith has committed to the South Carolina Gamecocks.  Smith confirmed the news to WPDE's Mark Haggard on his way home from Columbia after an unofficial visit to campus.  Smith said that Steve Spurrier wants him to step in and take over the Alshon Jeffrey role in the Gamecocks offense.   Smith was recruited by Steve Spurrier, Jr. and Brad Lawing along with offensive assistant Sean Elliott.

"I feel like it's a great fit for me and gave me the best chance to showcase my ability in both sports early in my time there," Smith told WPDE Sports.

Smith was the area's 5th leading receiver in 2010 with 42 catches for 809 yards and 15 TD's averaging 19.3 yards per catch.  Smith also told WPDE Sports that he intends on playing baseball for Ray Tanner and the Gamecocks.  The 6'4" 195 pound receiver had a long list of offers and chose USC over Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Illinois and LSU among others.
