Just before midnight, the Gamecocks baseball team was on the field at TD Ameritrade Park basking in the glow of a second consecutive national championship.  Seventeen hours later, the USC baseball team were welcomed back to the Midlands with a celebration for a second straight year.  A crowd of 11,820 came to the Gamecocks basketball home for a late afternoon celebration.  South Carolina topped Florida 5-2 on Tuesday night to claim its second straight College World Series title.

Here's the AP Story about the celebration:

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - The Gamecock flag is flying on top of the South Carolina state capitol.  Columbia's classic rock station is taking requests for the school's fight song and state senators briefly put aside debate on redistricting to call for university trustees to name the baseball stadium after the team's head coach. Yes, Columbia is celebrating South Carolina's second straight collegiate baseball national championship. After the crowd of 11,820 at Wednesday's welcome home celebration chanted one more year, junior ace pitcher Michael Roth suggested he'll skip playing for the Cleveland Indians and come back.  And coach Roy Tanner is honored someone would want to name the baseball stadium for him. But he says it's his players who win the games.
