Myrtle Beach resident Amber Campbell won a silver medal in the women's hammer throw at the U.S. Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon on Saturday.

The 2008 Olympian threw the hammer 229 feet, just five feet shy of the gold medal heave by Jessica Cosby. Campbell was the defending champion in this event.

Campbell's second place finish qualifies the former Coastal Carolina all-american to represent the U.S. Team at the World Track and Field Championships in South Korea next month. It will be Campbell's fourth trip to the world games representing the U.S.
