  Four local teams will be competing for state championships in baseball and softball. On Saturday, Marlboro County swept a double-header from St. James to win the Class 3A Lower State Softball Championship in Murrells Inlet. Marlboro County won the first game 10-8 and took game two 5-3 to advance to the 3A softball championship series for the first time in school history. 

Three Lower State champs were crowned on Friday night.  The Saint James baseball team overcame a 7-0 loss in game one to top AC Flora by the same 7-0 score in the nightcap to earn a spot in the 3A state championship series. In class 1A, Hunter Walters walk off three run HR gave Lake View a 6-3 win over Bamberg-Ehrhardt in baseball.  Across Dillon County in Latta, the Lake View softball team got two complete games from Avonlea Cooke to top Latta 8-1 and 7-2. 

 The state championship series begin on Monday in a best of three format.  Games one and two are home and home with game three (if necessary) at a neutral site.
