Clemson defensive end Da'Quan Bowers has been selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the second round of the NFL Draft with the 51st overall pick. Bowers was passed over in round one because of knee injury concerns.
Bowers led the nation with 15.5 sacks in 2010 at Clemson. He joins a Buccaneers defense that ranked 30th among 32 NFL teams in sacks last season.
Bowers was originally projected to be the top pick in the NFL Draft before teams began to wonder about his surgically repaired right knee. The Buccaneers were looking for a run-stopping defensive end who can also rush the passer. They were willing to take the chance on Bowers knee and bring him to Tampa.
