(AP) -- COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - College World Series star Michael Roth shut down Clemson for a second straight start and Christian Walker, Brady Thomas and Scott Wingo each hit two-run homers in South Carolina's 6-3 victory Friday night.  It was the first of a three-game series between the state rivals, who faced each other for the first time since South Carolina eliminated Clemson in Omaha last June.  Roth (3-0) went seven innings against the Tigers (6-2) nine months after he threw a three-hitter against Clemson as a surprise starter in a 5-1 victory that helped the Gamecocks win their first CWS title.  The Gamecocks (8-0) trailed 3-0 in the second when Thomas started the comeback with his first home run. Walker put South Carolina ahead for good, 4-3, and Wingo added his second homer of the year in the eighth.
