Nearly 2,000 fans watched the Conway Tigers boys basketball team beat Carolina Forest 57-47 on Friday night to finish in second place in Class 4A Region VI. Darius Frazier led Conway with 14 points. Jordan Simbeck had 14 for the Panthers.

Sumter won the Region VI championship. Conway's victory means they will be a 2-seed and play at home in the opening round of the Class 4A playoffs which begin next Wednesday against West Ashley. Carolina Forest will hit the road for the opening round of the playoffs as a 3-seed next Wednesday against Goose Creek.

In girls action, the St. James Lady Sharks rallied from a 21-17 halftime deficit to beat the North Myrtle Beach Lady Chiefs 59-53 in a region tie-breaker game played at Carolina Forest High on Friday night. The victory gives the Sharks second place in Class 3A Region VIII and a home game in the first round of the playoffs against Dreher Monday night. North Myrtle Beach will be a 3-seed and will be on the road for the opening round of the post season at Airport Monday night.

All-Region selection Stephanie Roberts led St. James with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Another All-Region performer, Taylor Allman had 18 points for North Myrtle Beach.
