The Coastal Carolina football team has snapped up another South Carolina Gamecocks transfer. The newest member of the CCU squad is wide receiver DeMario Bennett. Bennett was on campus on Thursday and enrolled in classes after being given his release from the Gamecocks.
Bennett appeared in eight games in 2010 at South Carolina and had one catch for four yards in the Gamecocks win over Troy. The the 6'2" 174 pound Georgia native just completed his redshirt freshman season, giving him three years of eligibility at Coastal Carolina. he played at the same high school, Coffee County, as Chanticleers Brooks Barbaree and Akeen Wesley.
Coastal Carolina head coach David Bennett now has two former Gamecocks on his roster. Last year, quarterback Aramis Hillary transferred from South Carolina to Coastal. Hillary is expected to be the Chants starting quarterback this fall.
