The South Carolina all-stars, nicknamed the Sandlappers, will take on the North Carolina stars, the Tar Heels, in a game for high school bragging rights in the Carolinas.

Four WPDE All-Zone selections will compete in this year's Shrine Bowl including Myrtle Beach quarterback Everett Golson who will play under former Myrtle Beach head coach Scott Earley, a Shrine Bowl assistant, one last time.

Golson's teammate Donte Sumpter has already given his verbal commitment to play at East Carolina. He says while there's no pressure to impress college scouts, he'll use the Shrine Bowl as a learning tool.

Gamecocks commitment and Zoneman winner Shon Carson from Lake City says he has some "off the field" work to accomplish. Carson plans on trying to recruit the undecided prospects the South Carolina team to come and join him in Columbia to play for Steve Spurrier and the Gamecocks.

The biggest area high school name still on the board is Marlboro County linebacker Lateek Townsend. Alabama, Auburn, Southern Cal, Clemson and South Carolina are all chasing after this blue chipper.

North Carolina won last year's game 24-14, but South Carolina has taken two of the last three and the Sandlappers lead the lifetime series 48 to 28 with four ties. Kickoff is set for one o'clock Saturday afternoon at Gibbs Stadium on the Wofford campus.
