Former Coastal Carolina linebacker Maurice Simpkins is back in the NFL. The Saint Louis Rams have signed Simpkins to their practice squad. Simpkins was a cinderella story making the Green Bay Packers practice squad after playing in the IFL in Green Bay. Simpkins quit his job as a computer programmer when he made the Packers in training camp. Simpkins was activated for two games by Green Bay before being released.
Simpkins now gets a second opportunity as he takes a practice squad spot in Saint Louis. The St. Louis Rams are promoting linebacker David Nixon from the practice squad to the active roster to fill the spot created by linebacker Na'il Diggs' season-ending pectoral muscle injury. Simpkins takes Nixon's spot on the practice squad.
