Avery Murray was slated to be a starting linebacker in his sophomore season at the University of Maryland, but the former WPDE All-Zone selection from West Florence High School is now a member of Coastal Carolina's football program.

Murray is enrolled in classes at CCU and is still awaiting clearance to begin practicing with the team. The 6-foot-1, 230 pound Murray will practice with the Chanticleers this fall, but will not be allowed to play until 2011. He will have three years of eligibility remaining. Murray had 7 tackles in 11 games at Maryland in his freshman campaign. He told NewsChannel 15 that he is excited to be closer to home and join the Chanticleers linebacking corps.
