The South Florence Bruins defeated the Lake City Panthers 31-18 Thursday night at Florence Memorial Stadium. The Bruins got out to a 17-6 halftime lead, but had to rally in the second half to hand Lake City their first loss of 2010.
South Florence started the scoring when Michael Muhammad returned an interception 50 yards for a touchdown. Later, with the Bruins leading 10-0, Lake City's Shon Carson returned a kickoff 98 yards to cut the lead to 10-6.
The Bruins took a 17-6 halftime lead. But Lake City rallied with Carson scoring his second TD of the night followed by a go-ahead score from Dashawn Butler to give Lake City their only lead of the night at 18-17. South Florence rallied for two late scores including a TD pass from Kaleb Griffin to Shannon James to help the Bruins to a 31-18 victory. South Florence improves to a record of 3-1 on the season. Lake City falls to 2-1.
