Myrtle Beach, S.C. -- The Myrtle Beach Pelicans season came to an end Monday night with a 7-1 loss to the Lynchburg Hillcats at BB&T Coastal Field. Lynchburg blew the game open with a five run seventh inning with Josh Fellhauer driving in a pair of runs on the night.
The Pelicans finished the season with a 58-82 record, worst in the Carolina League. Still, it was a five game improvement over the 2009 season. Myrtle Beach manager Rocket Wheeler cited 114 player moves for lack of team success on the field. Wheeler told NewsChannel 15 that he is satisfied with individual player development because of the dozens of promotions from Myrtle Beach up the chain in the Atlanta Braves minor league system.
