It was a busy Saturday for the Coastal Carolina football team. The Chanticleers started the day with a 10:30 am scrimmage, their third full scrimmage of the preseason. Overall thoughts... "I think we are getting better each practice, but we still are not quite there yet. We are much better than we have been at this time in the past, but there is still a lot of work to be done. The season starts in two weeks and we still have a lot to improve on before then."
On Zach McDowell... "Zach looked pretty good today, but he also made some mistakes. He made some bad decisions a few times when we were on the goal line, but I think he is getting better for us each day."
On the tight ends... "We have a really talented group of tight ends. I think both David Duran and Jamie Childers feed off each other. I think Jamie might have dropped his first pass today, but other than that, he did a great job out there."
On Childers' transition to tight end... "It's about what we expected it to be. He is very athletic and has great hands and is a hard worker."
On using Childers at quarterback... "We would like to redshirt Cody Craig this year and use Jamie as our third quarterback. There is going to be some plays and formations where you will see him in there at quarterback."
