Surfside Beach Junior Dixie wins World Series opener

The Surfside Beach Junior Dixie Baseball All-Stars beat Texarkana, Arkansas 10-0 in six innings on day one of the Dixie World Series, Saturday in Dothan, Alabama. Surfside Beach starting pitcher Dillon Johnson tossed five innings of no-hit ball. Sam McKinney pitched the final inning allowing no runs and one hit in a game that was called because of the 10-run rule.

Buck Bacot was the big star at the plate for Surfside with three hits and three RBI. Devin Melko also had three hits and drove in two for the under-13 Surfside All-Stars. Surfside advances into the winners bracket to face Troy, Alabama on Sunday night at 7 o'clock. Troy beat Dothan 7-6 in the opening round.
