CONWAY, S.C. (June 27, 2010) - Kayla Scuipider, 18, of Etowah, N.C., and Brannan Hudson, 17, of Columbia, S.C. won the Carolinas Junior PGA Championship after the final round at Quail Creek Golf Club was cancelled because of severe weather. The two bested the girls and boys fields at the Carolinas PGA Junior Championship. Both Scuipider and Hudson are now qualified for the 35th Junior PGA Championship being hosted by Sycamore Hills GC in Fort Wayne, IN, August 2 - 5.
Stephen Behr, a junior from West Florence High, shot 3-under par 69 on Saturday and finished tied for third. Hudson, who shot the low round of the tournament, 5-under par 67, says his first big win hasn't sunk in yet. "It's an honor to be where I am right now. I haven't had a chance to really think about what it means, but I'm really excited about the chance to play come August." 160 golfers competed in this year’s Carolinas Junior PGA Championship.
