The Saint James boys golf team finished second in the class 3A boys golf state championship at Quail Creek on the campus of Coastal Carolina on Tuesday. The Sharks finished 12 shots behind state champion AC Flora. Saint James' Austin Frick fired a 72 in the second round to finish in a tie for 6th individually. Drew McElveen ended his high school career with the Sharks by shooting an 80 after an opening round 70.
With AC Flora the champion, Saint James and South Aiken were in a tie for second. The top four scorers from each team went to the par 3 10th hole. With all eight balls in play, the Sharks Andrew Harvey sank a 12 foot birdie to clinch the tiebreaker and give Saint James second place in the state for class 3A.
