Coastal Carolina's defense stepped up with a number of key plays in a scrimmage on Wednesday night at Brooks Stadium. The sessions lasted nearly two hours with the offense running a total of 95 plays. Jamie Childers had a 65 yard TD run and Justin Durham added a 42 yard field goal, but it was the defense that had the upper hand. Josh Norman had an interception that he fumbled back to the offense and the defensive unit stopped Childers and the second team offense in a goal line stand at the end of the scrimmage.
Zack MacDowall was 13 of 22 for 118 yards with Childers going 4-7 for 27 yards and an INT. Childers was the leading rusher with 11 carries for 72 yards. Brandon Whitley had 5 catches for 46 yards. Coastal had 294 yards of total offense and averaged only 3.1 yards per play.
