Lake View's Anthony Waters is getting a Super Bowl ring. The New Orleans Saints linebacker was inactive for Super Bowl XLIV. Waters was in Saints preseason training camp, but was one of the final cuts. The former Clemson linebacker was signed to the Buffalo Bills practice squad, but following a rash of injuries to the Saints linebacking corps, Waters was re-signed by New Orleans in December.
Waters played in three games for New Orleans at the end of the regular season. He was inactive for both Saints playoff games. On Super Bowl Sunday, Waters was dressed for pregame warmups. Saints head coach Sean Payton then informed Waters that he was one of the Saints eight inactive players. Waters told WPDE Sports in a phone interview on Tuesday that he was still excited to be a part of the Super Bowl even if it was from the sidelines.
