(AP) -- COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - A South Carolina football recruit has been arrested and charged with being a minor in possession of alcohol. An officer at the Darlington County jail said Friday that Victor Hampton was being held there and had not had a bail hearing. The 17-year-old Hampton played his senior season at Darlington High. He had played at Independence High in Charlotte, N.C., but left the team over the summer. Hampton signed with the Gamecocks on Wednesday. The State of Columbia reported Hampton has been living with Darlington attorney Cheveron Scott. A phone message left at Scott's office was not immediately returned Friday. South Carolina athletics spokesman Steve Fink said he had not spoken with head coach Steve Spurrier about Hampton.
