The Myrtle Beach Pelicans scored six runs in the first three innings and held on for a 6-5 win over the Frederick Keys on Friday night. Leury Garcia's 2 run HR in the third to left gave the Birds a 6-1 advantage. All-Star John Wieland pitched into the 8th inning to get the win and improve to 6-3 on the season. Myrtle Beach will host the Southern Division 2nd half champ or wild card team on September 7th in a best of five series to begin the Carolina League Playoffs. It's the first post-season berth for the Pelicans since 2008. The Pelicans became a Texas Rangers affiliate in 2011.
