Former WPDE All-Zone selection Clifton Geathers was picked in the 6th round of the NFL draft by the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. Geathers is a 6-foot-8 defensive end who tips the scales at 300 pounds. He had three and a half sacks his junior season with the Gamecocks before leaving one year early for the draft.

If Geathers makes the Browns roster, he will play in the same division against his older brother Robert Geathers, Junior who is a starting defensive end with the Cincinnati Bengals. The Browns say they like Geathers 7-foot-2 wingspan, 37 and a half inch arms and incredible 36 inch vertical jump.

Geathers, who played for Nate Thompson at Carvers Bay and Steve Spurrier at South Carolina says he was not even watching the draft when his name was called because of the long wait, "I was getting a little ansy. I actually left the house, went downtown and sat by the river and read scripture and came back. I just hope to make the team. That's my main goal."
