Former Coastal Carolina all-american outfielder David Sappelt has been promoted to the Cincinnati Reds big league roster. Sappelt was called up from the Reds Triple-A affiliate in Louisville. He will join the Reds in Chicago on Sunday.

Reds outfielder Chris Heisey has been placed on the disabled list with a strained left oblique. Sappelt will take his place on the Reds roster. Sappelt hit .313 in the International League this season with seven homers and 29 RBI with the Louisville Bats. He was a 9th round selection in the 2008 draft. In 2010 he was the Reds' Minor League Hitter of the Year and won the MVP in the Southern League.
