Coastal Carolina held VMI to 33 points below its scoring average in a 72-49 win on Saturday morning at the HTC Center.  CCU tipped off at 11:00 am in a nationally televised game on ESPNU.  Anthony Raffa led the way with 21 points and CCU enjoyed a 52-35 rebounding edge to improve to 8-8, 3-2 in Big South play.  Coastal took the lead three minutes into the contest and led the rest of the way.

CCU took a 27-23 halftime lead and came out and built a double digit advantage in the first five minutes of the second stanza.  Stan Okoye got the Keydets within four at 44-40, but Warren Gillis answered right back with a three pointer and the Chants pulled away from there.  Raffa was 8 of 12 from the floor and added five rebounds to his 21 point effort.  Badou Diagne and El Hadji Ndieguene both had 9 points and 9 rebounds.  Gillis was the only other Chants in double digits with 12.  Kierre Greenwood, who missed Wednesday's game against Gardner-Webb with the flu had two points and eight assists in 31 minutes of action.

WPDE Sports is your home for the Cliff Ellis Show.  Join the coach and Rich Chrampanis on Sunday at noon as they break down the week in CCU basketball.  Coach Ellis breaks down the VMI win and goes through the Chants comeback bid at Gardner-Webb that fell short at the buzzer.  Kierre Greenwood is featured in Chants Corner and we'll meet the foreign flavor on CCU's roster.
