Hartsville native Jordan Lyles will begin the 2013 season at AAA Oklahoma City after being demoted by the Houston Astros on Wednesday. The 22 year old right handed pitcher was slated to be the Astros #3 starter, but had a rough spring going 0-3 with a 17.54 ERA in 11.2 innings.  Lyles gave us 36 hits, 23 earned runs and three homers.  Astros manager Bo Porter told Lyles that it wasn't a demotion, but a delay to get back to the majors.

Lyles was 5-12 with a 5.09 ERA in 25 starts in 2012.  He finished the season with his first complete game shutout, a 7-0 gem in Milwaukee against the Brewers.  He has made 40 MLB starts with a lifetime 7-20 record.
