Alan LeForce announced his retirement on Wednesday, stepping down as Coastal Carolina's women's basketball coach after a 16 year tenure.  The 78 year old LeForce missed the final fifteen games of the 2012-13 season due to illness and stayed off the bench under doctor's orders.

LeForce is the only Division I head coach with 200 career wins in both men's and women's college basketball.  As the men's coach at East Tennessee State he guided the school to two NCAA Tournament appearances between 1990 and 1996.  He arrived at Coastal Carolina in 1997 and finished his Chanticleers career with a 222-218 record highlighted by three appearances in the Big South Championship game, most recently in 2002.

The Lady Chanticleers finished 13-16 in 2012/13.  LeForce's last game behind the bench was a 64-56 win over Charleston Southern on January 5th.  Mark Kost took over as the interim coach after that and Coastal went 6-9 highlighted by a four game win streak.
