Two local players will play for South Carolina in high school basketball's version of the Shrine Bowl. Hartsville guard Jaylen Shaw and North Myrtle Beach's India Farmer will play for the Palmetto State against North Carolina's All-Stars on March 23rd at Socastee High School.
Shaw is averaging 23 points and 9 assists a game for the Red Foxes. Shaw hit the game winning basket in Hartsville's 64-62 win over Darlington on Saturday night at the Florence Civic Center to get his team to the 3A state championship game for a second straight year. The defending state champs take on Eastside at 7pm on Saturday night in Columbia. Shaw was a verbal commitment to High Point, but has re-opened his recruiting and is hearing from major Division I programs including South Carolina and Clemson.
Farmer was a 3A all-state pick for the Lady Chiefs. She had two and a half steals and nearly three blocked shots a contest during her senior season in Little River, under head coach Jude Hunt. India scored more than 1-thousand points in her high school career, and helped North Myrtle Beach go 3 rounds in the State Playoffs and is a member of the 2013 WPDE All-Hoop Zone team.
