Horry County Fire Rescue was called to Highway 905 and Old Pireway Road just before 11 a.m. Monday.

Firefighters arrived to flames shooting from the single-family, unoccupied home.

Horry County firefighters say no one had lived in the home for many years, but the owner used it for storage and it still had a power connection.

Firefighters explained that it took a long time to knock down the flames because the fire was concentrated in the attic and was hard to reach.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.
