Horry County Fire Rescue responded to a call of a man crushed by a car he was working on off Castlers Heights Road in Longs around 1pm Wednesday.

Russell Reaves, 41, of Longs, died from trauma received due to the car falling on him, according to Horry County Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler.

Reaves had the car jacked up but the jack evidently fell, Fowler added.

Reaves was pronounced dead at McLeod Seacoast Medical Center at 1:23 p.m.
