The City of Myrtle Beach isn't allowing limos to act as taxis anymore.
This city voted Tuesday night to change its existing ordinance after several taxicab drivers complained that limousines were acting as cabs and taking their business.
Limos are no longer allowed to hang out in popular places and wait for business, they must arrange their services ahead of time.
To be a taxi inside the city of Myrtle Beach you must have a registered taxi medallion with the city.
The city is currently only administering 182 taxi medallions.
Also in the ordinance, the capacity of a taxicab has changed.
A taxicab can now have up to 15 people including the driver. This was increased from seven passengers.
If a limo driver is caught operating as a taxi, he or she can be arrested and charged with a misdemeanor. The fine for that is up to $500 and/or 30 days in jail.
