Marion County Sheriff Mark Richardson fired two road deputies Wednesday, after he says they tested positive for using drugs.
One deputy tested positive for cocaine and the other marijuana, Sheriff Richardson said.
He says he got an anonymous call that the officers were using drugs, so he had all 40 of his road deputies tested.
Additional testing was offered to the deputies to make sure the results were accurate, but Richardson says they refused.
"We have to send a message. We just not gone tolerate illegal drug use, especially in law enforcement," said Sheriff Richardson.
One of the deputies worked at the department for six years and the other for three years.
Richardson says he will send information of their positive drug tests to the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy, as he is required to do.
He says their law enforcement certifications will probably be revoked.
Last month, Richardson says a Marion County Detention Center employee was fired after testing positive for marijuana.
